Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Hamilton and Niagara region.
The national weather agency says Hamilton is set to get four to eight centimetres of snow while Niagara will get between five and 10 centimetres on Monday night.
“Rain showers are expected to quickly change to snow this afternoon or evening as colder air moves into southern Ontario,” reads the advisory.
The heavy snow and local blowing snow will make it harder to see and cause slippery conditions on the roads.
Winds could blow between 50 and 60 kilometres per hour, the advisory said.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.”
Environment Canada said the conditions will continue into early Tuesday morning.
