MANILA, Philippines — After bombing out of the 2024 Paris Olympics contention, Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo will spend a “much-needed family time” with her husband and coach Julius Naranjo.
A day after her road to a fifth straight Olympics ended in the 2024 IWF World Cup in Thailand, the reigning Olympic Weightlifting gold medalist posted photos with her husband, sharing they would be spending more time together outside the sport.
“Now for the much needed family time. Du’n tayo sa forever. God and Family are forever,” wrote Diaz.

Diaz fell short of reaching the Paris Olympics after finishing seventh with a total of 228 kilograms in the World Cup 59kg class in Thailand as her compatriot Erleen Ando qualified.
Diaz competed in the past four Olympics in 2008 and 2012 and won a silver medal in the 2016 edition. She made history three years ago in Tokyo with the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in the now-scrapped 55kg division.
Despite the loss, Diaz said in reports that she will continue her weightlifting career.
