The extension of the Spirit’s three-year partnership with the TAC is essential to emphasising the value of road safety, especially on rural roads. Through the partnership, the Spirit will be instrumental in disseminating the TAC’s road safety messages, along with a range of content to Spirit players.

In accordance with the partnership, the team will be sporting specially made jerseys with road lines within a yellow sash in the games on December 15 against Adelaide Lightning in Round 7 and on January 7 against Townsville Fire in Round 10.

The TAC will also have a strong presence at home games at Red Energy Arena and away from the stadium, with their logo prominently featured on the Spirit’s home and away outfits in addition to on-court signage.

For the 2023–24 WNBL season, the crowd favourite TAC blimp is also returning.

Bendigo Spirit, General Manager of Operations, David Ingham, said, “We are rapt to have the TAC’s support once again this season as we look to promote the importance of road safety on country roads together. We spend a lot of time on the road, both during the pre-season and regular season, so keeping safe on the road across regional Victoria and beyond is something we’re passionate about as a team. The TAC also have a strong commitment to all-abilities basketball programs in the region in a further sign of our brands aligning.”

There will be all-ability warm-ups before both Geelong games, in addition to clinics conducted by Spirit players and coaching staff in Bendigo and Geelong.

TAC’s Chief Executive Officer, Tracey Slatter, said, “It’s an unfortunate reality that people travelling on regional roads are more likely to be killed or seriously injured in a crash. This partnership means we can work with the basketball community to ensure the players, team members and spectators all have road safety front of mind as they travel for games.”
