Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in collision with van in Guelph | Globalnews.ca

One person is in a Hamilton trauma centre with life-threatening injuries after investigators with Guelph Police Service say she was struck by a commercial van Tuesday morning.

The collision happened in the area of Kortright Road West and Rickson Avenue just after 11 a.m.

Police say the driver of the vehicle stayed with the victim and offered assistance along with several witnesses until emergency services arrived.

Investigators say the victim is a 20-year-old woman.

The driver, a 75-year-old man from Guelph, was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm or death under the Highway Traffic Act.

Investigators are asking for those who may have captured the crash on dashcam to come forward. They and other witnesses are encouraged to contact the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit at 519-824-1212 ext. 7206.
