Xander Zayas Gives Back to Hometown Community in Puerto Rico with Boxing Clinic
Over 40 Local Youths Train with Zayas in San Juan
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (April 5, 2024) — Xander Zayas, the rising star in the junior middleweight division, returned to his roots today to make a meaningful impact in his community.
At the age of 21, Zayas, with an impressive record of 18-0 with 12 knockouts, organized and led a boxing clinic at the Barrio Obrero Municipal Gym in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Collaborating with Top Rank, the Rimas Foundation, and the WBO, Zayas provided an enriching boxing experience to over 40 local children, free of charge.
The Rimas Foundation, dedicated to fostering the talents of youth in music, arts, and sports, partnered with Zayas to ensure that the participants not only received expert boxing guidance but also complimentary gear, including t-shirts, gym bags, and gloves.
Reflecting on the event, Zayas shared his heartfelt message with the attendees:
“Growing up here, I had a dream of achieving greatness, of becoming someone significant. Today, standing at 18-0, I see the fruition of that dream, and I aspire to become a world champion in the future.”
“To all the young talents here, I want to convey a simple yet powerful message: you can be the next shining star in Puerto Rican boxing. Listen to the wisdom of your parents and coaches; they’ve walked the path you’re on now. Embrace their guidance and support.”
“I came from this very community, and now I proudly represent my country and my family in the ring. Remember, you can be next.”
