Yankees’ Aaron Boone has incredulous reaction after being yelled at by umpire

Aaron Boone provided about the only memorable moment from the Yankees’ 7-1 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Boone provided an incredulous look after home plate umpire Bill Miller yelled over to the Yankees dugout during the third inning in The Bronx.
“You say something,” Miller yelled. “I hope not.”
The YES cameras then flashed to Boone, chomping on sunflower seeds, seeming to roll his eyes in disbelief and said something which could not be made out.
“Look at that look,” YES announcer Michael Kay said with a laugh at Boone’s expressions.
The interaction between Miller and Boone came in the third inning of a 1-1 game following a 1-0 pitch to Kevin Kiermaier that seemed to clearly miss the zone, per MLB.com’s zone.
The Yankees likely had issues with Miller’s strike zone, but Miller wasn’t having any of it.
He took off his mask to yell toward the Yankees’ dugout, pointing his right hand and mask toward Boone while he laid down the law.
The Yankees had issues with Miller again in the fifth inning when starter Clarke Schmidt thought he struck out George Springer to end the fifth with the Blue Jays ahead, 2-1.
Miller instead called a ball, and Schmidt later allowed a two-run homer that changed the game’s outlook. The starter allowed four runs in five innings to suffer the loss.
“I think that was like the most frustrating thing,” Schmidt said. “I haven’t looked at the gamecast. I felt like the 0-2 pitch was really close with the sinker in, and then just a tough [at-bat].”
Boone – or whomever inspired Miller to get feisty – showed more fight than the Yankees in a loss that has the Yankees seven games back in the wild card hunt with 11 games remaining.
The Yankees had six hits and three at-bats with runners in scoring position.
Giancarlo Stanton’s average dropped to .190 with an 0-for-4 performance that included a pair of double plays. Stanton is hitting .150 over his last 30 games.
The Yankees have a 0.0 percent chance of making the playoffs, per fangraphs.com.
This season will mark the first time the Yankees miss the postseason under Boone, but owner Hal Steinbrenner could look to make a move due to underperformance and an upset fan base.
